Strike4Democracy is a broad umbrella for coordinated national actions on Friday, 2/17, which will serve as an opening blow in a campaign to stand up for America’s democratic principles. As we witness expanded ICE raids, travel bans, Trump’s mobilization on the border wall, as well as attacks on the rights of workers, women, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and our environment, people across the country have begun to realize that we must diversify tactics, as protests and marches are only the first step. Strike4Democracy amplifies a new chapter of nonviolent resistance ushered in over the last six weeks by calling for strikes that grow in number and power.
Whether you do not work on February 17th or simply don’t make any purchases (see “How We Strike”), our hope is that you will use this as a day to stand in solidarity with other concerned friends, family and co-workers and organize for the future. February 17 is a day of strike actions and planning that preview an even larger mass strike on March 8, organized by International Women’s Day and The Women’s March. We also anticipate strikes on May Day and a heightening resistance throughout the summer.
If you or your organization stands with us in our beliefs, we’d like to coordinate. Please contact us below:
